Process of preparation to celebrate Confirmation in 2027

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a significant step in the growth and development of every Catholic, necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. At Confirmation we affirm our commitment to God and the Church and receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The grace of this sacrament deepens our faith and brings us into a more abundant life with Christ and strengthens us to share the love of Jesus Christ with others. It is by no means a "graduation" from practicing the faith, but rather just the beginning of a rich faith life!

Receiving the Sacrament

Holy Redeemer Parish offers a dedicated Christian Initiation process to prepare children 11 to 15 years of age for the Sacrament of Confirmation. At Holy Redeemer the process for and the celebration of this sacrament is a family, parish, and school affair and involves both the parent and child.

Parents, if you wish that your child prepare to celebrate Confirmation in 2027, you should have attended the Information Seminar on September 22nd. The preparation process and expectations for your family were fully explained.

It is with great joy that I invite your family to our ‘GIFT’ (Growing In Faith Together) preparation process for the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is a time for young Catholics to acknowledge and deepen their commitment to their faith. At Holy Redeemer Parish the process for and the celebration of this sacrament is a family, parish, and school collaboration.

As you consider this journey, please take note of the two core expectations:

● Weekly Mass Attendance: The heart of this preparation is a weekly encounter with Jesus Christ. All candidates must attend Mass each week alongside at least one adult family member. This ensures that parents, as the primary educators of faith, model consistent weekly worship and that candidates actively participate in the parish community.

(We know life is busy! To accommodate your family's schedule, Holy Redeemer offers five Mass times each weekend.)

● Full Participation: Candidates and at least one parent or adult guardian must participate in every component of the preparation timeline.

Thank you for your commitment to your child's faith. We are excited to welcome your family to this sacramental year.
