Sacristans

Sacristans usually arrive about thirty minutes before Mass begins. He/she makes sure the priest has the required chalice, linens, oil (etc.) for the altar during mass. Once Mass has ended, the sacristan washes the sacred vessels.

What are Sacristans?

Here's some information on what the sacristan ministry is, for the curious, and for those interested in joining us!  We are in need of new sacristans at Sunday and weekday Masses.

What do we do? Prepare and clean up liturgical elements of the Mass (hosts, vessels, linens, books, candles, etc.)

What is beautiful about this role? Working with sacred items; background service for fellow parishioners.

What qualities are needed for this role? Ability to learn vocabulary and protocols; confident with simple arithmetic; confident reading written instructions; a desire to be helpful to fellow parishioners.

Time commitment: Approximately two hours (including attending Mass/adoration) every 2-3 weeks.
