  • Mark you calendar and invite a friend! During Lent, Holy Redeemer parish hosts the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 7pm. The Pro-Life Ministry has the pleasure of leading the Stations of the Cross on March 11. All welcome.   • Holy Redeemer Catholic Women’s League donated $700 to St. Mary's home along with an assortment of baby items and gift cards for mothers.  They were delivered just before Christmas and very gratefully received.
  • Holy Redeemer Knights of Columbus #9544 regularly offers a mass intention for “for the protection of the unborn”, as they did on Feb 16, 2022.

Novavax Vaccine Approved by Health Canada
  • Nuvaxovid, a vaccine from Novavax Inc., was approved by Health Canada on February 17, 2022 for COVID-19.
  • A Global News article quotes B.C.’s provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry: “Henry said this type of vaccine is an interesting one as it uses no human-derived materials in its development and uses instead an insect cell line.”
Canadian Federal Bill C-230, Protection of Freedom of Conscience
  • In Parliament, MP Kelly Block introduced Bill C-230 for the protection of freedom of conscience for health care professionals in Canada with its First Reading on February 4, 2022.

Canadian Parliamentary Pro-Life Caucus
  • On February 17, Arnold Viersen, MP and Chair of the Parliamentary Pro-Life Caucus, hosted a webinar “Safeguarding Canadian Charities”; about 150 people attended live.

  • The extreme difficulty of a charitable organization surviving after its charitable status is lost is summarized at the slide “What’s at Stake” at the 25-minute mark of the webinar video.
  • The presenters shared strategies for protecting pro-life organizations when the Trudeau government acts on its election promise to strip them of charitable status.
  • They encouraged building public appreciation for these important services (such as Birthright of Ottawa and Action Life Ottawa) so that people, and in particular MPs, will strive to protect them.
